Port of San Nicolás
Located between Km 352 and KM 343 of the Paraná river, this port has the following facilities:
• Puerto Nuevo
• Grain terminal
• Puerto Ingeniero Buitrago
Grain terminal:
located at KM 350,5 the terminal is also operated by Messrs. Administración Portuaria Bonaerense. Storage capacity about 67.000 mt. Loading rate about 1.000 mt/hour. Maximum permitted l.o.a.: 270 m.
Central Térmica San Nicolás: located at KM 347,5 this berth was originally designed and built for the discharge of the electric mill construction materials and afterwards used for the coal discharge which is burnt at the plant. Maximum permitted l.o.a.: 230
m. Discharge rate about 300 mt/hour via two shore cranes.
Puerto Nuevo:
at KM 350, this open berth, operated by Messrs. Administración Portuaria Bonaerense, is suitable for bulk cargoes handling and
commonly used for iron ore loading proceeding ex barge from Brazilian ports, zinc concentrates loading, fertilizers discharge,
steel products loading and discharging operations and liquid cargoes (alcohol/wine) loading and discharging via two pipe lines.
The berth is about 540 meters length and is fitted with six cranes 20/27 metric tons swl. Maximum permitted l.o.a.: 230 m.

Puerto Ingeniero Buitrago:
the berths are owned and operated by Messrs. Siderar, the most important steel mill of Argentina. Berth A, the southern one, is employed for the iron ore and coal discharge and for the coke breeze loading. The quay is fitted with two gantry cranes suitable for the bulk iron and coal operations. Discharge rate about 850 mt/hour one and about 1.400 mt/hour the second one. Although there is no size restriction for vessels discharging at the pier A, the stock yard location limits the length overall to 240 m. Berth B is used for the steel products loading and discharging. Is fitted with two shore cranes 15 mt swl and one crane 30 mt swl.
