Port of Bahía Blanca

The port is located close to the city of Bahia Blanca, on the southern Atlantic coast of the Buenos Aires province, on the northern side of the Bahía Blanca inlet. It is the second port in importance, regarding grain exports in Argentina, after San Lorenzo.

The port complex, that includes Ingeniero White and Puerto Galván ports, is managed by the Consorcio de Gestión del Puerto de Bahía Blanca. Puerto Rosales and Puerto Belgrano are also located in the Bahía Blanca inlet but they are not managed by the above mentioned company. Puerto Rosales is mainly used by pilot boats, small crafts and fishing vessels. Puerto Belgrano is the principal Argentine Navy base, which offers dry-docking facilities for commercial ships. The Bahía Blanca inlet also homes two SPM buoys, anchored close to Puerto Rosales, one off Punta Ancla and the other off Punta Cigueña.

COMANDANTE PIEDRABUENA PIER

Operated by: PAMPA ENERGIA, this terminal was built basically for the vessels carrying fuel and coal for the electric power mill of same name. In fact coal was never discharged as the pier discharger was never installed and is used for oil discharge and grain /grain products loading.

Operated by PROFERTIL SA, this is a concrete pier built parallel to the channel between White and Galvan, about 200 m long allowing vessels of upto 235 m LOA with a loading arm receiving the bulk urea via belts from the storage areas. About halfway along the wharf there is a retractable loading arm for liquid ammonium/Gasoline. There is 1 loading arm fithed for gasoline from Mega Terminal.

Operated by ENERGEN SA / CGPBBCA. Located immediately West of the Galván N°1 Berth is the Polisur floating petro-chemical plant and beyond that the viaduct running out to the tanker berths

(Posta N° 1 for oil tankers, Posta N° 2 for gas carriers) operated by CGPBBCA. Piping for these berths is carried from the shore along the viaduct and the jetty to the central loading platforms.
